This passage in Matthew contains two questions which Jesus is purported to have asked his disciples relating to Jesus' identity. It was a casual type of converstaion but the questions, "Who do people say that I am?" and then the more personal approach, "Who do YOU say that I am?" are as relevant today as they were two thousand years ago. During the time since there has been a continuous quest in the Christological arena of scholarship to determine the nature of what is called the Historical Jesus.
