SCHOOL BACKPACKS FOR KIDS – Can you help? August 13th deadline! This past Monday three LPCC women, Diana Boekema, Carol Newman and Marilyn Bacon joined with the Thorncliffe Park Women’s team to observe how they participated in the latest Thorncliffe Park Food Drive where 70 families were supported by the Canadian Community Services Organization with food boxes and other supplies. You may remember LPCC raised money in May to assist with providing 100 families with food boxes for Ramadan. While we were there it was noted that their next project is to raise money to provide backpacks filled with the necessary school supplies for at least 500 elementary school children.
Our immediate response was yes, LPCC can help!! So we are inviting you to donate in support of this worthy project before August 13th in time for us to purchase the needed supplies before the school term starts. We expect the cost of one filled backpack to be approximately $40. This includes the backpack, exercise notebooks, pencil case, pencils, eraser, glue sticks, coloured pencils, kids 5” scissors, ruler, and age appropriate reading books. Depending on the amount raised we may also be able to provide some additional items for Grades 4-6 such as mechanical pencils, blue, black and red pens, highlighters, and subject divider notebooks. LPCC will receive your tax receipted donations by eTransfer to LPCC@lawrenceparkchurch.ca or contact Michael Larkin at michael@lawrenceparkchurch.ca for other means of donating.
If you are donating by e-transfer, please include “Backpack for kids” in the message box. If this is one of the first times you are donating to us, make sure to also include your address in the message box for tax-receipting purposes.
