Why are Refugees locked out of Toronto's Shelter System?

This was the scene On July 14th, 2023 at a press conference in downtown Toronto . For the past two months, a growing number of mostly Black African refugees have been sleeping outside 129 Peter Street. They arrive at Pearson airport asking for asylum, and they are sent here expecting to be given shelter. But the City shelter system has decided to bar refugees from the shelter system, in a bid to pressure the federal government to fund refugee housing. The refugees, mostly Black, are the ones sleeping outside, not the government officials who refuse to get along and do the right thing. How can Canada lecture any country about human rights as we let this happen? Please contact your city councillor and federal MP.
