For our final week in our celebrations of Canadian Music we featured Canadian Women Composers.
For the sermon, Rev. John reflected on the week and the terrible attacks in Manchester, and all of the other attacks as well in Syria, India, Cairo, and many many other places. We are all deeply saddened by these tragedies, and incredibly frustrated at our lack of ability to heal it all. When Jesus was preaching his Sermon on the Mount, his Jewish audience felt just as hopeless as we do. They were facing oppressive regimes that they had no ability to really change at all. So Jesus suggested something different; live peace in your community and in your life. Take care of the people around you, and show love to all you meet. You might not change the ruling powers, but you might just inspire others to do the same, and little by little, it will make all the difference.
